Who caused the car accident? And when did the driver actually start braking? The Road-Trace device, developed by experts from the Technical University in Brno, could help to answer these questions and assist the traffic police with the site search.
Thanks to laser spectroscopy the device can detect traces of zinc from tires on the road surface, indicating when the driver has responded and stomped on the brake, even if the braking distance is not visible to the human eye. AtomTrace wants to launch the device in June next year. The company cooperates with the Institute of Forensic Engineering at the Brno University of Technology regarding the development and testing.
